REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY
The UNLOCK button will unlock either the drivers
door or both doors if pressed twice.
When the Body Control Module (BCM) receives an
unlock input, the park/tail lamps will flash one time
to indicate the drivers door is unlocked, or will flash
twice to indicate that both doors are unlocked, dis-
arm the Vehicle Theft Alarm (VTA) and activate the
illuminated entry.
Once the LOCK button is pressed, the horn will
sound a short chirp to notify that the all door lock
signal was received. When the Body Control Module
(BCM) receives a lock input, both doors are locked,
the horns chirp and the park/tail lamps are flashed
on and off one time and initiates the Vehicle Theft
Alarm (VTA) process.

Any diagnosis of the Power Locks system
should begin with the use of scan tool and the
appropriate Diagnostic Service Manual.
Refer to the appropriate wiring information.
(1) Remove the door trim panel (Refer to 23 -
BODY/DOOR - FRONT/TRIM PANEL - REMOVAL).
(2) Use an ohmmeter to test switch resistance
between pins.
(3) Using the ignition key, turn the key cylinder to
the unlock position.
(4) Test resistance between pins. Ohmmeter should
show 1970 Ohm ± 5%.
(5) Test resistance between pins while switch is in
the unactuated mode. Ohmmeter should show 18.2K
Ohm ± 5%.
(6) If resistance values are not within the param-
eters, replace the switch.
EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE

the other switches.
Refer to the appropriate wiring information.
(1) Remove the exterior door handle (Refer to 23 -
BODY/DOOR - FRONT/EXTERIOR HANDLE -

(2) Use an ohmmeter to test switch resistance
between pins.
(3) Depress handle.
(4) Test resistance between pins. Ohmmeter should
show 0 (continuity) on the drivers door and 8K Ohm
± 5% on the passenger door.
NOTE: Do not replace the exterior handle with an
8K Ohm Resistor!
(5) Test resistance between pins while handle is in
the unactuated mode. Ohmmeter should show an
open condition.
(6) If resistance values are not within the param-
eters, replace the exterior door handle switch.
