5.17.5 IGMP Proxy multicast routing
IGMP Proxy multicast routing enables the simplified routing of multicast data between networks
based on IGMP. With IGMP Proxy, devices located in a network separated from the multicast server will
be able to connect to multicast groups.
The routing is performed between the uplink interface and downlink interfaces. At that, on the
uplink interface, the switch acts as a regular multicast client and generates its own IGMP messages. On
downlink interfaces, the switch acts as a multicast server and processes IGMP messages from devices
connected to those interfaces.
IGMP Proxy supports up to 1024 multicast groups.
IGMP Proxy supports up to 512 downlink interfaces.
IGMP Proxy restrictions:
- IGMP Proxy is not supported on LAG groups
- only one uplink interface can be defined
- when V3 version of IGMP protocol is used, only exclude (*,G) and include (*,G) queries are
processed on downlink interfaces.
Global configuration mode commands
Command line request in global configuration mode appears as follows:
console(config)#
Table 5.140 —Global configuration mode commands
ip multicast-routing
igmpproxy
Enable multicast data routing on configured interfaces.
ip igmp-proxy version version
Defines the type of IGMP protocol to be used by the switch on the
uplink interface.
- version—IGMP version.
Defines IEEE 802.1p value for IGMP packets that will be used by
the switch on the uplink interface.
Set DSCP value in IP header for IGMP packets; this DSCP value will
be used by the switch on uplink-interface.
VLAN interface configuration mode commands
Command line request in VLAN configuration mode appears as follows:
