5.2 Display operation
5.2.1 Display and operating elements
The LCD module VU331 for displaying and operating is inside the remote display and operating unit
FHX 40. The measured value can be read off through the FHX 40 sight glass. In order to operate the
device, the FHX40 must be opened by removing the four screws.

Display symbols
The following table describes the symbols that appear on the liquid crystal display:
Symbol Meaning
ALARM_SYMBOL
This alarm symbol appears when the device is in an alarm state. If the symbol flashes, this indicates a
warning.
LOCK_SYMBOL
This lock symbol appears when the device is locked, i.e. if no input is possible.
COM_SYMBOL
This communication symbol appears when data transmission via HART, PROFIBUS PA or FOUNDATION
Fieldbus, for example, is in progress.
SIMULATION_SWITCH_ENABLE
This communication symbol appears when simulation in FOUNDATION Fieldbus is enabled via the
DIP switch.
