5.6 FOUNDATION Fieldbus interface
5.6.1 System architecture
The following diagram shows two typical examples of a FOUNDATION Fieldbus network with the
associated components.

The system can be connected in the following ways:
– A linking device makes the connection to higher-order fieldbus levels (e.g. High Speed Ethernet (HSE)) possible.
– A FOUNDATION Fieldbus-H1 connecting card is needed for direct connection to a process control system.
