3-6 Hardware Installation
1. Attachyourantistaticwriststrap(refertotheinstructionsinyourantistaticwrist
strappackage)beforeremovingtheMiniGBIC.
2. RemovethecablesconnectedtotheMiniGBIC.
3. LocatethereleasetabunderthefrontendoftheMiniGBIC.Forthetypeof
MiniGBICshowninFigure 31,push
inonthereleasetabasfarasitwillgotorelease
theMiniGBICfromtheportslot.ForthetypeofMiniGBICshowninFigure 32,pull
outonthereleasetabtoreleasetheMiniGBICfromthe portslot.
4. Graspthesidesofthe
MiniGBICandpullitstraightout oftheportslot.
IfyouarestoringorshippingaMiniGBIC,whichhasafiberopticconnector,insertits
protectivedustcovertoprotecttheendsofthefiberopticfibersfromdustand
contamination.
Installing the Switch on a Flat Surface
Wheninstallingtheswitchonaflatsurface,theinstallationofthe rubberfeetis
recommendedtopreventtheswitchfromslidingonaflatsurface.Installingtherubber
feetisoptionalifyouareinstallingtheswitchinarack.Toinstalltherubberfeet,proceed
toInstallingthe
RubberFeet below.Forinstructionstorackmounttheswitch,proceed
toRackMountingtheSwitchonpage 3 9.
Installing the Rubber Feet
Toinstalltherubberfeet,refertoFigure 33andproceedas follows:
1. Placetheswitchonitsbackonasturdyflatsurfacetogainaccesstothebottomofthe
chassis.
2. Removethefourrubberfeetfromtheirplasticbagintheshippingbox.
3. Locatethefourmarkedlocationson
thebottomfourcornersofthechassis.
