3-6 Hardware Installation
1. Attachyourantistaticwriststrap(refertotheinstructionsinyourantistaticwrist
strappackage)beforeremovingtheMini‐GBIC.
2. RemovethecablesconnectedtotheMini‐GBIC.
3. LocatethereleasetabunderthefrontendoftheMini‐GBIC.Forthetypeof
Mini‐GBICshowninFigure 3‐1,push
inonthereleasetabasfarasitwillgotorelease
theMini‐GBICfromtheportslot.ForthetypeofMini‐GBICshowninFigure 3‐2,pull
outonthereleasetabtoreleasetheMini‐GBICfromthe portslot.
4. Graspthesidesofthe
Mini‐GBICandpullitstraightout oftheportslot.
IfyouarestoringorshippingaMini‐GBIC,whichhasafiber‐opticconnector,insertits
protectivedustcovertoprotecttheendsofthefiber‐opticfibersfromdustand
contamination.
Installing the Switch on a Flat Surface
Wheninstallingtheswitchonaflatsurface,theinstallationofthe rubberfeetis
recommendedtopreventtheswitchfromslidingonaflatsurface.Installingtherubber
feetisoptionalifyouareinstallingtheswitchinarack.Toinstalltherubberfeet,proceed
to“Installingthe
RubberFeet” below.Forinstructionstorackmounttheswitch,proceed
to“RackMountingtheSwitch”onpage 3 ‐9.
Installing the Rubber Feet
Toinstalltherubberfeet,refertoFigure 3‐3andproceedas follows:
1. Placetheswitchonitsbackonasturdyflatsurfacetogainaccesstothebottomofthe
chassis.
2. Removethefourrubberfeetfromtheirplasticbagintheshippingbox.
3. Locatethefourmarkedlocationson
thebottomfourcornersofthechassis.
