Finishing the Installation
F1 Crystalight, Coal, or Driftwood Fuel Bed Installation
If using the crystalight or coal fuel beds, first place all the crystalight/coal pieces in a single layer
atop the burners and fuelbed tray. Cover the entire area with the fuelbed media, being careful
not to cover the pilot shield and ensuring coverage right up to both glass windows and the rear of
firebox for single sided.
If the driftwood fuelbed has been chosen, follow the above directions for placing the crystalight
and then place the driftwood pieces randomly atop the crystalight layer. Ensure the wood pieces
are evenly spread out and not over the pilot assembly.
Do not heap or mound any fuelbed. Continue to “F3 Replace the Glass” on page 40.
F2 Woodland Selection Fuel Bed
If using the woodland selection with shale fuel bed, first place the logs and cones in the positions
shown below.
Once the logs and cones have been correctly positioned, scatter the shale evenly across the fire
base to cover as much area as possible without obstructing the pilot flame.
For the DX1000 you should use the 7x supplied 600ml bags of shale (chips), and for the
DX1500 you should use the 10x supplied bags.
