Retrieving the GPS Location of Your Unit
Retrieving the GPS Location of Your Unit
With your unit, a smart device, and the provided GPS utility, you can
retrieve the latitude and longitude coordinates of your unit as well as the
date and time of the reading. You will see either the last known coordinates
or the current ones, depending on if the geolocation information could be
retrieved or not.
In addition to viewing the GPS information on-screen, you can copy it to
the Clipboard in two formats: a text string or a URL link. The text string
contains the GPS coordinates as well as a date and time stamp. Once the
information is in the Clipboard, you can paste it to any document or test
report (in editable sections). If your unit is connected to the Internet, you
can even directly paste the URL link to a Web browser to locate your unit
on a map.
For information on how to configure your unit and smartphone to retrieve
geolocation information, see Getting Ready to Retrieve Geolocation
Information on page 137.
To retrieve the GPS location of your unit:
1. If necessary, turn on your unit and wait for the startup sequence to
complete.
2. On your smart device, ensure that EXFO Link is running and that the
mobile hotspot that you have created is available.
3. Connect your unit to the mobile hotspot as you would do with any
other wireless network. For more information, see Connecting to a
Wireless Network on page 178.
