Safety FERITSCOPE® DMP30
1.2 Intended use
The gauge is intended solely for the determination of the -ferrite content of auste-
nitic and DUPLEX steel. Factors that influence the measurement accuracy, such as
the geometry of the measured object, the thickness of a possible cladding layer or
the shape of the permeable structure, must be taken into account individually by the
user.
The measurement system (gauge and probe) is designed for operation under the fol-
lowing environmental conditions:
Indoor and outdoor operation, gauges in protection class IP64 are resistant only
to splash water.
IP64 refers to the ability to withstand dust and clear water. Gauges/probes are
not waterproof and cannot withstand constant water pressure! No protection in
salt water and other liquids, especially soapy water, alcohol and/or heated liquid.
Operation outside potentially explosive areas only!
Ambient temperature during operation: 0 … +40 °C (+32 °F … +104 °F)
Operation at altitudes up to 2000 m (6561.7 ft) above sea level
Only accessories approved or recommended by the manufacturer may be connected
to the gauge.
Any further use is not in accordance with the intended use. The risk of damage re-
sulting from this is borne solely by the user!
ATTENTION – Destruction of the gauge due to condensation
If the gauge is moved from a cold environment to a warm environment, conden-
sation can form inside the gauge and damage its electronics. Such extreme
temperature changes occur e.g. in winter between outside (0 °C (+32 °F)) and
room temperature (+22 °C (+71.6 °F)).
► Allow the gauge some time to acclimatize to the ambient temperature
before turning it on and starting a measurement.
1.3 Safety of the electrical equipment
EMC (Directive 2014/30/EU, electromagnetic compatibility)
The gauges of the DMP series comply with the regulations concerning electromag-
netic compatibility. The gauges are designed for battery operation. Mains operation
