Reading is out of the
measuring range.
Cause:
• Coating is too thick.
Perform measurements on
a specimen having a coat-
ing thickness measurable
by the instrument.
• Measurement was not per-
formed correctly.
Perform measurements cor-
rectly (e.g. do not hover with
the instrument/probe over
the specimen before or after
the measurement or do not
lift off the instrument/probe
from the specimen too
swiftly after the measure-
ment).
• Wrong base material of the
specimen.
Use parts with applicable
base material.
Fe displayed: base made
from ferromagnetic metal.
NFe displayed: base made
from non-ferrous metal.
• Erroneous normalization
or calibration.
Perform a normalization or
calibration again. Perform
the normalization/calibration
carefully! It determines the
accuracy for the subse-
quent measurements. -
Measurements can never
be more accurate than the
normalization or calibration!
