- Position on Card: Number of the user defined segment.
- Block Number: Number of the block that shall be read within the user defined segment.
- Mask: The data, which is read from the defined block on the data carrier, is combined with
logical AND with this Mask value to determine which value is relevant for comparison
with the Result value (see next field).
- Result: The result of the AND calculation of the read data and the Mask value are compared with
this Result value. If both values match, access is granted. If not, access is denied.
In the previous example, the Mask value of "00000000FFFFFF000000…" means that the first 4 bytes of the read
data are not relevant (Mask value is entered in hex, i.e., 8 digits = 4 bytes with all bits set to "0"). The next 3 bytes
are relevant ("FFFFFF" = 3 bytes with bits set to "1") with the remaining bytes again not relevant. This means
that all data carriers, which have the information "M36” in ASCII or "4D3336" in hex value at position 5 to 7 of the
read data, have access permission.
