9 Inspection and maintenance
Important for safe operation
- Regular maintenance is important for the safe operation of switching device combinations.
All checks and maintenance must be performed by qualified electricians
- All checks and maintenance must be performed by qualified electricians with experience in switching
device combinations.
9.1 Recurring test intervals
To ensure a high degree of operating safety, commercial switching device combinations should be tested
every 4 years by a qualified electrician to ensure they function properly (proposal by the DGUV 3 (previously
BGV A3)). National regulations or regulations of insurance companies can shorten or prolong the test interval.
Shorter intervals to assure proper functioning and safe operations can be specified:
- due to wear on the equipment.
- due to external influences.
- due to changed operating parameters and environmental conditions.
- in special type rooms and systems in accordance with DIN VDE 100 Group 700.
- in dicult operating conditions, particularly events such as vibration and humidity.
- according to manufacturer’s instructions for devices or equipment.
- in accordance with applicable national standards and regulations.
Hager recommends to perform at least one test a year:
- Visual inspection (external check)
- Switching actions of the individual protective and switching devices (operation of test button RCDs every
half a year)
- Document all tests, such as in a test log.
