Inspection and maintenance
9.2 Minimum inspection / maintenance measures
For switching device combinations with FWU distribution board cabinets, the minimum maintenance
conditions stated below must be complied with (in accordance with VDE 0100 Part 610 for switching device
combinations):
The recurring tests at the time of commissioning, after changes or defects or at suitable intervals include:
- Visual inspection
- Measurements
- Investigations
- Documenting the test results
- Rectification of the defects found, such as by replacing the defective equipment or devices
- Documenting of the work and changes implemented.
Visual inspection
During the inspection, the qualified electrician tests that the electrical switching system, including its equipment
and devices, is in perfect condition. The inspection comprises an external and internal inspection.
- Check the protection against direct and indirect touching of active components.
- Check the basic protection and insulation.
- Check the additional insulation for error protection.
- Check also all covers required for personal protection.
- Check for signs of ageing.
- Check for mechanical, chemical, electrical and thermal stress.
External inspections, tests Test values, comments, remedy
Electrical systems and fixed equipment - Eectiveness of ventilation system and heating in operating room
- Room temperature, relative humidity, aggressive airborne particles,
dust
Accessibility, minimum distances Escape routes, clearances
Visual inspection of covers and sheaths Defects which impair the protection class, such as:
- Missing parts
- Locked doors
- defective paintwork
Condition of the sheath, mounting, faceplate If necessary, repair, replace enclosure parts, clean contamination, fix
mountings; always refer to the installation instructions when doing so
Check for signs of corrosion - Repair defects with a suitable FZ791N paint pen. If the defective area
is large, sand it back, clean it (e.g. with white gas, white spirit, universal
thinner), then paint it
- Check the operating and environmental conditions
Ventilation / traces of heating up Ensure clearance to the ventilation inserts, implement suitable measures
Hinge pin lock Lock and replace missing hinge pins
Check that the door hinges move easily Spray moving lock parts with non-aqueous lubricant, replace locking
device if necessary
Seals, flange, touch guards Replace if defective
Test according to protection class and type Protection class II for multimedia and hybrid panels: Check for use of
double insulated devices and wiring or use of a suitable cover on single
towers UZ01A2 for multimedia devices, insulation of active earth wires
