7 - Cold Weather Recommendations
In cold weather conditions, allow engine to run for at least 5 min to warm up ; before operating any
function thereby preventing any damage to the hydraulic system.
In extreme cold conditions, machines should be equipped with optional cold start kits.
Attempting to start engine when temperature is in the negative range, may require the use of a booster
battery.
If engine fails to start, do not crank for an extended time. Allow starter to "cool off" for a few minutes
before attempting again. If engine fails after several attempts, refer to the engine maintenance manual.

NITIAL STARTING SHOULD ALWAYS BE PERFORMED FROM THE GROUND CONTROL BOX.
7.1 - ENGINE OIL
The correct SAE viscosity grade of oil is determined by the minimum ambient temperature
during cold engine start-up, and the maximum ambient temperature during engine operation.
Generally, use the highest viscosity oil that is available to meet the requirement for the
temperature at start-up.

7.2 - HYDRAULIC OIL
External environmental conditions can reduce performance of the machine if the hydraulic oil
temperature does not reach its optimum range.
It is recommended to use the hydraulic oil according to weather condition. Refer to the table
below.

T IS RECOMMENDED TO REPLACE LOW TEMPERATURE OIL AS THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE
REACHES
+ 15°C (59°F). IT IS NOT ADVISABLE TO MIX OILS OF DIFFERENT BRANDS OR TYPES.
