12.1 Enhanced data rate (with MGCplus only)
The CANHEAD system works at 250 kBaud as standard. The maximum bus
expansion is 250 m. 3000 measured values/s can be transmitted. For ex
ample, the maximum data rate with 4 modules = 40 channels is 75 S/s
(3000 S/s / 40).
If the requirements below are met, there is the option to increase the baud rate
to 500 kBaud.
Requirements for increasing the baud rate to 500 kBaud:
S The firmware of the ML74B being used must be  P5.18.
S The MGCplus must be equipped with a CP42 (firmware  P4.50) or CP52 .
S All bus masters (ML71BS6, ML78B) must also be able to understand sig
nals that are twice as fast (ML78B: firmware  5.28).
S All the CANHEADs in the line must have hardware revision 1.40.
S The firmware version in the CANHEADs must be  2.16.
S Cables must be no longer than 100 m.
S A terminator at the last module must be used for cables of 10 m or longer.
S The software on the PC (catman or Assistant) must be up‐to‐date.
If all these conditions are met, a data rate of 500 kBaud can be set.
From version 3.5 release 5 of the MGCplus Assistant, there will be a sub‐menu
“CAN baud rate" under the enhanced settings (right‐click on ML74B).
