8 Web-connected printing
Your printer can be connected to the Web, providing various benets:
Automatic rmware updates (see Update the rmware on page 113)
Print to your printer by sending it an email message with the le to be printed as an attachment. PDF,
TIFF, and JPG les are supported.
For the latest information, see http://www.hp.com/go/designjeteprinters.
Print by email
After you have enabled Web Services, you can print to your printer by email. Just check the Web Services
menu, the ePrint menu, or press the icon in the home screen header to show the email address of your
printer, then send the le you want to print to that email address as an attachment.
In this way, you can print from anywhere with an Internet connection, without needing any printer driver.
There are a few limitations that you should bear in mind:
The attached les to be printed must be in PDF, JPEG, or TIFF format.
The maximum le size is 10 MB, but your email server may have a lower limit.
Files are printed in the original document size (at 100% scale), in normal quality, in color, and normally in
portrait orientation (some printers may oer autorotation).
The paper type is set to plain paper. If some other paper type is loaded, the printer may either print it
anyway or put it on hold, depending on the paper mismatch action (see Paper mismatch action
on page 22).
