Replace or reseat the cable, if necessary, and then return to Step 1.
YES
Go to Step 14.
Step 14
This step determines whether an internal SAS, USB or Fibre Channel Interface Assembly is the source of the problem.
1. Press the power switch to turn off the power to the 7226 Storage Enclosure.
2. Disconnect the internal SAS, USB or Fibre Channel Interface Assemblies from the media devices.
3. Inspect the SAS, USB or Fibre Channel Interface Assemblies for signs of damage, such as bent pins or damaged wires.
Are the internal SAS or USB Interface Assemblies in good condition?
NO
Replace the Interface Assembly (see Installation and Removal Procedures), reassemble the enclosure, and then return
to Step 1.
YES
Reassemble the enclosure.
If the host system is an IBM Power System with AIX Operating System, then go to Step 15 (IBM Power System with AIX
Operating System Only).
If the host system is an IBM Power System with IBM i (OS) Operating System, then go to Step 17 (IBM Power System
with IBM i Operating System Only).
If the host system is an IBM Power System with Linux Operating System, then go to Step 21 (IBM Power System with
Linux Operating System Only).
If the host system is an IBM System x, then consult your System x documentation.
Step 15 (IBM Power System with AIX Operating System Only)
This step verifies that the 7226 storage enclosure has been properly configured to the IBM Power System with AIX Operating
System.
Check the configuration of the 7226 storage enclosure to the host system software by completing the following steps:
1. Log into the host system (AIX operating system).
Note: You must have root authority to install or remove the 7226 storage enclosure from the system. To obtain root
authority, see your system administrator.
2. To see the installed SAS device status, at the system prompt, type
lsdev -Cs sas
and press Enter. The command lists all of the SAS devices that are connected to the host system. Figure 1 shows an
example of the screen that displays. The screen lists:
1 Device name 3 System address
2 Device Status 4 Description of the device
Figure 1. Screen Display of SAS Devices Attached to the host system
3. To see the installed SATA device status, at the system prompt, type
lsdev -Cs sata
