204 IBM System x3850 X6 and x3950 X6 Planning and Implementation Guide
After the IMM2 is available on the network, you can log in into the IMM2 web interface by
typing its IP address in a supported web browser as shown in Figure 7-3.
Figure 7-3 IMM2 Login web page
Enter the default user name, which is USERID. This user name is case-sensitive. Enter the
default password, which is PASSW0RD, where 0 is a zero.
See the User’s Guide for Integrated Management Module II at the following website for the
additional configuration settings of the IMM2:

7.2.2 Configuring IMM2 in-band configuration
Managing an IMM2 in-band means to manage the IMM2 through the operating system. IBM
Systems Director, for example, can update the firmware of an IMM2 via the operating system.
The benefit of this approach is that you do not need to configure the IMM2 with its own
dedicated IP address if there are insufficient IP addresses to allocate or you do not wish to
provide the IMM2 with its own IP address.
There is no actual configuration required within the IMM2 web interface to allow the IMM2 to
be managed in-band. However, you must ensure that the prerequisite drivers are installed to
allow the operating system to recognize the IMM2. All supported versions of Microsoft
Windows Server 2008 and 2012, VMware ESX, and Linux now include the prerequisite
drivers for the X6 systems.
See IBM ServerProven® at the following website for a list of the supported operating
systems:
http://ibm.com/systems/info/x86servers/serverproven/compat/us/nos/matrix.shtml
If IBM Systems Director is used to manage an X6 system in-band, you must install an agent
on the operating system of the managed system. We provide more detail about IBM Systems
Director in 7.4, “IBM Systems Director” on page 207.
