4. Install hard drives or hard drive filler panels, as necessary.
For instructions, see “Installing a 3.5-inch Hard Drive into the Storage Bay” on
page 46.
5. Install the I/O Cooling Module. You must ensure that the I/O Cooling Module being
installated is appropriate for the installed HDD Bay Module.
For information about choosing the appropriate cooling module, refer to the Intel
®
Modular Server Spare/Parts List and Configuration Guide. For instructions on installing
the I/O Cooling module, see “Installing the I/O Cooling Module” on page 39.
Replacing the Midplane
Removing the Midplane
To remove the midplane, follow these steps:
1. Review the safety and ESD information at the beginning of this manual and in the
appendices.
2. To avoid data corruption, ensure that drives in the HDD bay module are not online
and actively providing data storage to any of the installed compute modules.
3. Power down all installed compute modules.
4. Power down the Intel
®
Modular Server System MFSYS25/MFSYS35 by unplugging
power cords to all installed power supplies.
5. Remove the Compute Module(s) and/or filler panels.

6. Remove the I/O Cooling Module.

7. Remove all the installed hard drives and/or hard drive filler panels.
For instructions, see “Removing the 2.5-inch Hard Disk Drive Bay Module” on
page 54 or “Removing the 3.5-inch Hard Disk Drive Bay Module” on page 57.
8. Remove the Hard Disk Drive Bay Module.

9. Remove the Main Cooling Modules.

10. Remove the Storage Control Module(s) and/or filler panels.

11. Remove the Ethernet Switch Module(s) and/or filler panels.

12. Remove the Management Module.
