8 Safetyfunctions
Drivecontrollermalfunctionsmustbedetectedbythesuperimposedmoni
toringofthemovementorbyothermeasuresintheapplication.Thedetec
tionandthereactionaretheresponsibilityoftheuser.TheD3DA3xx/xpro
videsthesafetyfunctionsSTOandSBCthattheusercanuseasareaction
todrivecontrollermalfunctionsintheapplication.
Thischapterdescribesthefollowingsafetyfunctions:
● STO(SafeTorqueOFF)
● SBC(SafeBreakControl)
● Diagnosesviacrosscircuittest
TheconnectionofthissafetyfunctionsaredoneviaterminalX26A.Thede
siredbehaviourofthesafetyfunctionscanbeconfiguredviaDIPswitch(S
ADR).
8.1 STO(SafeTorqueOFF)
Theaxismodulesupportsthesafetyfunction”STO”(safetorqueoff)inac
cordancewithEN6180052,ENISO138491„PLe“category4andEN
61508/EN62061„SIL3“.ForthesafetyfunctionSTOthesupplytothe
driveisinterruptedsafe(nogalvanicisolation).Thedrivemustnotcreate
torqueandthereforedangerousmovements.Thestandstillpositionisnot
monitored.Thefunction"STO"correspondstothestopcategorie0accord
ingtoEN602041.
Youwillfindthesafetyrelatedcharacteristicsinchapter"TechnicalData".
TheSTOshutdowntakesplacewithin2,5ms.
Thesafetyrelatedpartsmustbedesignedsuchthat:
● Asinglefailureinanyofthesepartsdoesnotresultinthelossofthe
safetyfunction.
● Thesinglefailureisdetectedonorbeforethenextdemanduponthe
safetyfunction.
