Itisonlyallowedtoconnectbrakes,contactorsorrelayswithaminimum
holdingvoltage≥5Vtothebrakedriveroutputsonthesystem.Theswitch
ingelementsusedmustbedesignedaspertherequiredPLandcategory
inaccordancewithENISO138491orSILinaccordancewithEN61508/
EN62061orhaveappropriatesafetyrelatedapproval.Thereleaseofthe
brakecanbedelayedbyupto200msbytheinternaldiagnosticsonthe
brakeoutput.
Caution
Ifthebrakedoesnotreleaseduetoafailure,thesafetyfunctionmaybelost
duetowearorirreparabledamagetothebrake.Thefailure"Brakedoesnot
release"mustbetakenintoaccountduringthedesignofthebrake(s)and
thevalidation.
Thefailure"Brakedoesnotengage"mustbeexcludedbyoneofthefollow
ingmeasures:
● Usageofasafetybrakewithamanufacturer'sspecificationthatex
cludesthisfailurewiththenecessarysafetyintegrity.
Definitionandvalidationofasecondmeansofbrakingintheapplication.For
instancethisfeaturecanbeachievedbyusingtwobrakeswhereeachbrake
isinitselfcapableofapplyingthenecessarybrakingtorque.Inaddition,the
functionofthebrakesmustbevalidatedregularly.
