10 Adjustment
10.1 Adjusting the backlash
Description Backlash (>>> Fig. 10-1) occurs between the tooth flanks of the drive pinion
and rack. It has to be readjusted in the case of wear and after the drive assem-
bly, the rack or the drive pinion has been replaced.
The backlash can be adjusted by shifting the intermediate plate (>>> Fig. 10-
2) on the carriage. The intermediate plate is shifted by turning the eccentric.

If work is carried out immediately after the linear unit has stopped operating,
there is liable to be an elevated surface temperature at the motors. The ap-
propriate safety measures must be taken.
