screen, then select Yes at the Reload prompt.
If the ExpressionMate freezes up, turn the power off and
back on with the Store button held down. The following
screen will be displayed:
RESTORE DEFAULTS

Press Yes at the Restore Defaults prompt to erase all memory
and reset the ExpressionMate to its factory default settings.
Note: ItÕs possible to create bogus ÒMemory FailureÓ messages if
you turn your ExpressionMate off too soon after the last
Save, Rename, or Global edit. It could also happen if you
experience a power failure while engaged in any of these
activities. These kinds of memory failures may be safely
ignored because the message really means that there was
insufÞcient time for the ExpressionMate to recalculate its
checksum (which takes about 2 seconds) before power was
lost.
Diagnostics
You can use the Diagnostic tests to make sure that the
ExpressionMateÕs buttons, data knob, and MIDI ports are
working properly. You can also use these tests to check
controllers and MIDI cables.
Before You Begin
If you want to test controllers, such as the Ribbon, pedals, and
breath controller, make sure that theyÕre plugged in correctly. If
you plan to do the MIDI test, youÕll need two MIDI cables.
Entering Diagnostics
If the ExpressionMate is on, turn it off. Then press and hold the
Controller and Global buttons and turn the power on. All of the
front panel LEDs should ßash twice; release the buttons after the
second ßash. (If the LEDs donÕt ßash a second time, then turn the
unit off and back on again, making sure to hold both buttons for
several seconds.)
