OPERATION
The blade stopping system on BBC models
uses a clutch/brake assembly on the crankshaft
that allows the engine to continue to run while
the blade stops rotating. The blade must stop
within three seconds after the blade control bail
is released.
Engaging the bail (back towards the handle)
moves the clutch actuator arm which moves the
brake plate away from the friction disc, allowing
the dutch to engage the blade.
When the bail is disengaged (released), the
brake plate contacts a friction disc and disen-
gages clutch, stopping blade rotation.
