REASSEMBLY
1 Apply Lawn-Boy "AX" grease to balls of
large caged bearing and install bearing onto
input shaft.
Install washer onto shaft. Apply Lawn-Boy
"AX"
grease to balls of small caged bearing and install
bearing onto input shaft with seal of bearing
facing threaded end of input shaft.
Insert input shaft assembly into upper transmis-
sion case and secure with metric cap screw.
Torque cap screw to 85 In.-lbs.
(7 ft.-lbs.) (1 0 N.M)
Check rotation of input shaft assembly for easy
movement and
no binding.
Install snap ring
to axle shaft in groove
nearest ball holes. Apply Lawn-Boy
"AX" grease
to sliding area of axle shaft and install slider to
short end of axle shaft with tapered side facing
ball holes in axle shaft. Install snap ring to
secure slider to axle shaft.
3 Apply Lawn-Boy "AX" grease to key ways
of shift collar and sides of drive gears.
Install washer onto shift collar.
Install
33 tooth gear onto shift collar with bevel
side facing washer. Install washer onto shift
collar and install
36 tooth gear onto shift collar
with bevel side
of gear facing washer.
Install washer onto shift collar and install
40
tooth gear with bevel side of gear facing washer.
Install washer onto shift collar.
Install .snap ring into groove of shift collar
to
secure gears and washers.
NOTE: Install snap ring at 90º from keyway in
shift
collar.
Check rotation, all gears should rotate easily on
shift collar with no binding.
