12 Remove outer snap ring, slider and inner
snap ring from axle shaft.
NOTE: Exercise care when removing slider-
two balls will fall out.
Slide key holder and shift collar assemblies as
a unit from axle shaft.
Examine axle for signs of wear. Replace
if
necessary.
SPECIFICATION
Axle Shaft O.D.
0.4983 minimum- 0.5000 maximum
13 Remove sliding collar, splined key holder
(plastic), springs and shift keys as an assembly
from the shift collar.
Examine shift springs for distortion and wear.
Replace
if necessary.
NOTE: Check both ends of shift keys for ex-
cessive wear or damage. If raised ridges of
keys are rounded or damaged the shifting
pat-
tern will not function properly.
14 Remove snap ring from shift collar. Re-
move washer,
40 tooth gear, washer, 36 tooth
gear, washer,
33 tooth gear and remaining
washer from the shift collar.
Examine gears for chips, worn teeth ordamage.
Replace as required.
Clean all parts thoroughly.
