SAFETY
WARNING: Clutch/Brake
Assembly
must
be replaced
if
bonded lining wears to
.030"
or
less.
Most problems with excessive facing wear are
caused by improper operation
(slow
bail en-
gagement) or a loose or misadjusted cable.
NOTE:
Clutch/Brake assemblies are manu-
factured as matched units and components (ex-
cept fastening hardware) are not available as
service items. If any part or parts are unsuitable
for re-use or if the Clutch/Brake Assembly was
separated during disassembly, the entire
Clutch/Brake Unit must be replaced.
Clean and inspect crankshaft. Use emery cloth
to remove rust and burrs
from
crankshaft for
clutch/brake assembly installation.
INSTALLATION
8
Insert actuator assembly into clutch
cover. Position assembly onto crankshaft with
actuator assembly arm inserted through engine
mounting plate.
NOTE:
Occasionally the actuator assembly will
not slide onto crankshaft easily. If this happens,
clean crankshaft thoroughly with emery cloth
and use a deep socket and soft hammer to
install
it.
9
Install ball assembly into actuator assem-
.bly. Be sure balls are seated into grooves of
actuator assembly.
