MANUAL STARTER TOP MOUNT
REMOVAL
SAFETY WARNING: Remove spark
plug lead to prevent engine starting.
Engage blade control bail on models
so
equipped, and pull starter rope at starter hous-
ing.
Tie a loop knot in rope near starter housing.
Remove rope insert from handle and untie knot
slide handle and rope insert
off
rope.
Untie loop knot and slowly release rope tension.
Remove four screws securing starter
assembly
to
shroud and remove starter.
DISASSEMBLY
Remove center screw securing cam,
springs, pawls and starter pulley into starter
housing.
Carefully
lift
pulley assembly from hous-
ing. Pull rope through hole
of
housing and
remove rope from pulley.
