ENGINE MAINTENANCE
The Hatz 74 HP is a turbo-charged, four-cylinder diesel
engine that also drives the hydraulic auxiliary pumps for
steering and broom control. The engine performs at
2500 RPMs with peak torque at 184 ft lb @ 1600 RPMs
and displacement at 119 cu in.
The diesel engine manufacturer recommends several
engine-specic maintenance inspections every 250
hours, or every three months. You can access the
engine and other machine components via the access
panel doors on either side of the machine, depending
upon the component. (Figure 5-3) (Refer to your
Engine Operator’s Manual for more detailed information
regarding engine-related maintenance procedures.)
Check Engine OilCheck Engine Oil
The engine lubrication oil must be kept at a level above
the ADD mark, but not above the FULL mark, on the
engine lubrication oil dipstick.
To accurately check the engine lubrication oil level, park
the machine on a level surface and stop the engine.
ALWAYS stop the engine before
checking the engine lubrication oil level as hot oil
can be thrown, causing serious injury.
Wait ve minutes after engine
shutdown before removing the dipstick from the
engine and checking the oil level to assure accuracy.
This also prevents lling the engine with too much
lubrication oil. Engine oil should be warm when
checked.
