Inspect Cooling SystemInspect Cooling System
1. Open the right engine panel door to access the
cooling fan. (Figure 5-5)
2. Check engine cooling fan for damaged or bent
blades. Replace if damaged.
3. Inspect the fan belt for serviceability, looking for
signs of cracking, tearing or separation. Replace if
damaged.
4. Check fan belt and pulleys for dust, dirt and debris.
Clean before starting the engine.

Air FilterAir Filter
The heavy-duty engine air lter system is mounted inside
the (left) engine compartment. (Figure 5-6) To prolong
engine life and prevent contaminants from entering the
engine, inspect the air intake system components daily
for damage, cracked hoses or loose clamps.

The air lter must be cleaned or replaced as follows:
1. Open clamps securing the cover on the lter
housing, then remove the cover.
2. Remove the lter cartridge.
3. Wipe inside the air lter housing with a damp cloth.
4. Replace with the new lter cartridge if needed.
5. Reinstall cover and secure with the clamps.
Never operate the engine without an
air cleaner as this will cause severe engine damage.
