TheIMM2networkaccesstagprovidesthedefaulthostnameoftheIMM2anddoesnotrequire
youtostarttheserver.
Step2.OntheLoginpage,typetheusernameandpassword.IfyouareusingtheIMM2forthefirsttime,
youcanobtaintheusernameandpasswordfromyoursystemadministrator.Allloginattemptsare
documentedinthesystem-eventlog.
Note:TheIMM2issetinitiallywithausernameofUSERIDandpasswordofPASSW0RD(witha
zero,notatheletterO).Youhaveread/writeaccess.Youmustchangethedefaultpasswordthe
firsttimeyoulogon.
Step3.ClickLogintostartthesession.TheSystemStatusandHealthpageprovidesaquickview
ofthesystemstatus.
Note:IfyouboottotheoperatingsystemwhileintheIMM2GUIandthemessage“BootingOSorin
unsupportedOS”isdisplayedunderSystemStatus➙SystemState,disableWindows2008or2012
firewallortypethefollowingcommandintheWindows2008or2012console.Thismightalsoaffect
blue-screencapturefeatures.

Bydefault,theicmppacketisblockedbyWindowsfirewall.TheIMM2GUIwillthenchangeto“OSbooted”
statusafteryouchangethesettingasindicatedaboveinboththeWebandCLIinterfaces.
Usingtheembeddedhypervisor
TheVMwareESXiembeddedhypervisorsoftwareisavailableontheoptionalLenovoUSBflashdevicewith
embeddedhypervisor.
TheUSBflashdevicecanbeinstalledinUSBconnectorsonthesystemboard(see“Internalcablerouting
andconnectors”onpage312forthelocationoftheconnectors).Hypervisorisvirtualizationsoftwarethat
enablesmultipleoperatingsystemstorunonahostsystematthesametime.TheUSBflashdeviceis
requiredtoactivatethehypervisorfunctions.
Tostartusingtheembeddedhypervisorfunctions,youmustaddtheUSBflashdevicetothestartup
sequenceintheSetuputility.
ToaddtheUSBflashdevicetothestartupsequence,completethefollowingsteps:
Step1.Turnontheserver.
Note:Approximately5to10secondsaftertheserverisconnectedtopower,thepower-control
buttonbecomesactive.
Step2.Whentheprompt<F1>Setupisdisplayed,pressF1.
Step3.FromtheSetuputilitymainmenu,selectBootManager.
Step4.SelectAddBootOption;then,selectGenericBootOption➙EmbeddedHypervisor.Press
Enter,andthenselectEsc.
Step5.SelectChangeBootOrder➙Changetheorder.UsetheUparrowandDownArrowkeys
toselectEmbeddedHypervisorandusetheplus(+)andminus(-)keystomoveEmbedded
Hypervisorinthebootorder.WhenEmbeddedHypervisorisinthecorrectlocationintheboot
order,pressEnter.SelectCommitChangesandpressEnter.
Step6.SelectSaveSettingsandthenselectExitSetup.
