MemorymirroredchannelmodereplicatesandstoresdataontwopairsofDIMMswithintwochannels
simultaneously.Ifafailureoccurs,thememorycontrollerswitchesfromtheprimarypairofmemoryDIMMs
tothebackuppairofDIMMs.
YoucanenablememorymirroredintheSetuputility(see“StartingtheSetuputility”onpage107).
Whenyouusethememorymirroredchannelfeature,considerthefollowinginformation:
•Whenyouusememorymirroredchannel,youmustinstallapairofDIMMsatatime.ThetwoDIMMsin
eachpairmustbeidenticalinsize,type,andrank(single,dual,orquad),andorganization,butnotin
speed.ThechannelsrunatthespeedoftheslowestDIMMinanyofthechannels.
•Themaximumavailablememoryisreducedtohalfoftheinstalledmemorywhenmemorymirroredis
enabled.Forexample,ifyouinstall64GBofmemoryusingRDIMMs,only32GBofaddressablememory
isavailablewhenyouusememorymirroredchannel.
