Step7.FirmlypresstheDIMMstraightdownintotheconnectorbyapplyingpressureonbothendsofthe
DIMMsimultaneously.TheretainingclipssnapintothelockedpositionwhentheDIMMisfirmly
seatedintheconnector.
Note:IfthereisagapbetweentheDIMMandtheretainingclips,theDIMMhasnotbeencorrectly
inserted;opentheretainingclips,removetheDIMM,andthenreinsertit.
Ifyouhaveotherdevicestoinstallorremove,dosonow.
InstallingaPCI-Xbracket
UsethisinformationtoinstallaPCI-Xbracket.
Readthesafetyinformationin“Safety”onpagevand“Installationguidelines”onpage35.
Ifyouarereplacingaservercomponentintheserver,youneedtoturnofftheserverandperipheraldevices,
anddisconnectthepowercordsandallexternalcables.
ToinstallaPCI-Xbracket,completethefollowingsteps.
Step1.Carefullyturntheserveronitssidesothatitislyingflat,withthecoverfacingup.
Attention:Donotallowtheservertofallover.
Step2.Unlockandremovetheleft-sidecover(see“Removingtheleft-sidecover”onpage40).
Step3.Touchthestatic-protectivepackagethatcontainstheadaptertoanyunpaintedmetalsurfaceon
theserver;then,removetheadapterfromthepackage.
Step4.LocatePCIslot1whichyouwillinstallthePCI-Xbracket.
Step5.Removethescrewthatsecurestheexpansion-slotcover.
