Ifyouarereplacingaservercomponentintheserver,youneedtoturnofftheserverandperipheraldevices,
anddisconnectthepowercordsandallexternalcables.
Toremovethemicroprocessor2expansionboard,completethefollowingsteps.
Step1.Carefullyturntheserveronitssidesothatitislyingflat,withthecoverfacingup.
Attention:Donotallowtheservertofallover.
Step2.Unlockandremovetheleft-sidecover(see“Removingtheleft-sidecover”onpage184).
Step3.Removetheairbaffle(see“Removingtheairbaffle”onpage189).
Step4.Removethefancageassembly(see“Removingthefancageassembly”onpage272).
Step5.Notewherethecablesareconnectedtothemicroprocessor2expansionboard;then,disconnect
them.
Attention:Disengagealllatches,releasetabsorlocksoncableconnectorswhenyoudisconnect
allcablesfromthesystemboard(see“Internalcableroutingandconnectors”onpage312).Failing
toreleasethembeforeremovingthecableswilldamagethecablesocketsonthemicroprocessor2
expansionboard.Thecablesocketsonthemicroprocessor2expansionboardarefragile.Any
damagetothecablesocketsmayrequirereplacingthemicroprocessor2expansionboard.
Step6.Removeanyofthefollowingcomponentsthatareinstalledonthemicroprocessor2expansion
boardandputtheminasafe,static-protectiveplace:
•Adapters(see“Removinganadapter”onpage213
)
•DIMMs(see“Removingamemorymodule”onpage261
)
•Microprocessorsandheatsinks(see“Removingamicroprocessorandheatsink”onpage283)
Attention:Removethesocketcoverfromthemicroprocessorsocketonthenewmicroprocessor
2expansionboardandplaceitonthemicroprocessorsocketofthemicroprocessor2expansion
boardyouareremoving.
Step7.Loosenthetwothumbscrewsonthereleaseleverandrotatethelevertowardthebackofthe
chassistillthestoppoint.Themicroprocessor2expansionboardwillliftupslightlywhenthe
releaseleverisfullyopen.
