Ifyouarereplacingaservercomponentintheserver,youneedtoturnofftheserverandperipheraldevices,
anddisconnectthepowercordsandallexternalcables.
ToinstallanadapteronthePCI-Xbracket,completethefollowingsteps.
Step1.Carefullyturntheserveronitssidesothatitislyingflat,withthecoverfacingup.
Attention:Donotallowtheservertofallover.
Step2.Unlockandremovetheleft-sidecover(see“Removingtheleft-sidecover”onpage40).
Step3.Seethedocumentationthatcomeswiththeadapterforanycablinginstructionsandinformation
aboutjumperorswitchsettings.(Itmightbeeasierforyoutoroutecablesbeforeyouinstall
theadapter.)
Step4.Touchthestatic-protectivepackagethatcontainstheadaptertoanyunpaintedmetalsurfaceon
theserver;then,removetheadapterfromthepackage.
Step5.LocatePCIslot1whichyouwillinstalltheadapterinto.
Step6.Rotatetheadapter-retentionbracketsonthePCI-Xbrackettotheopenposition.
Note:Removetheexpansion-slotcoverifitisinstalledonthePCI-Xbracketandsaveitfor
futureuse.
