Ifyouarereplacingaservercomponentintheserver,youneedtoturnofftheserverandperipheraldevices,
anddisconnectthepowercordsandallexternalcables.
Toinstalla3.5-inchsimple-swapharddiskdrive,completethefollowingsteps.
Step1.Unlocktheleft-sidecover.
Note:Youmustunlocktheleft-sidecovertoopenorremovethebezel.Whenyoulocktheleft-side
cover,itlocksboththecoverandthebezel.
Step2.Openthebezel(see“Openingthebezelmediadoor”onpage38).
Step3.Removethefillerpanel,ifoneispresent.
Step4.Touchthestatic-protectivepackagethatcontainsthediskdrivetoanyunpaintedmetalsurfaceon
theserver;then,removethediskdrivefromthepackageandplaceitonastatic-protectivesurface.
Step5.Grasptheblackdrivehandleandslidethebluereleaselatchtotherightandalignthedrive
assemblywiththeguiderailsinthebay.

Step6.Gentlypushthedriveintothebayuntilthedrivestops.

Ifyouarereplacingadrive,makesurethat:
•Youhaveallthecablesandotherequipmentthatarespecifiedinthedocumentationthatcomeswiththe
newdrive.
•Youhavecheckedtheinstructionsthatcomewiththenewdrivetodeterminewhetheryoumustset
anyswitchesorjumpersinthedrive.
