).
Iftheserverpassesthevideodiagnostics,thevideoisgood;see“Solving
undeterminedproblems”onpage161.
(Trainedtechnicianonly)Iftheserverfailsthevideodiagnostics,replace
thesystemboard.
Themonitorhasscreen
jitter,orthescreenimageis
wavy,unreadable,rolling,or
distorted.
1.Ifthemonitorself-testsshowthatthemonitorisworkingcorrectly,consider
thelocationofthemonitor.Magneticfieldsaroundotherdevices(suchas
transformers,appliances,fluorescents,andothermonitors)cancausescreen
jitterorwavy,unreadable,rolling,ordistortedscreenimages.Ifthishappens,
turnoffthemonitor.
Attention:Movingacolormonitorwhileitisturnedonmightcausescreen
discoloration.
Movethedeviceandthemonitoratleast305mm(12in.)apart,andturnon
themonitor.
Notes:
a.Topreventdiskettedriveread/writeerrors,makesurethatthedistance
betweenthemonitorandanyexternaldiskettedriveisatleast76mm(3in.).
b.Non-Lenovomonitorcablesmightcauseunpredictableproblems.
2.Reseatthemonitorandcable.
3.Replacethefollowingcomponentsoneatatime,intheordershown,restarting
theservereachtime:
a.Monitor
b.(Trainedtechnicianonly)Systemboard
Wrongcharactersappearon
thescreen.
1.Ifthewronglanguageisdisplayed,updatetheserverfirmwaretothelatestlevel
(see“Updatingthefirmware”onpage103)withthecorrectlanguage.
2.Reseatthemonitorandcable.
3.Replacethefollowingcomponentsoneatatime,intheordershown,restarting
theservereachtime:
