Usethisinformationtorecovertheserverfirmware.
Important:Someclustersolutionsrequirespecificcodelevelsorcoordinatedcodeupdates.Ifthedevice
ispartofaclustersolution,verifythatthelatestlevelofcodeissupportedfortheclustersolutionbefore
youupdatethecode.
Iftheserverfirmwarehasbecomecorrupted,suchasfromapowerfailureduringanupdate,youcan
recovertheserverfirmwareinthefollowingway:
In-bandmethod:Recoverserverfirmware,usingeitherthebootblockjumper(AutomatedBoot
Recovery)andaserverFirmwareUpdatePackageServicePack.
Out-of-bandmethod:UsetheIMM2webinterfacetoupdatethefirmware,usingthelatestserver
firmwareupdatepackage.

Theflashmemoryoftheserverconsistsofaprimarybankandabackupbank.Youmustmaintainabootable
UEFIfirmwareimageinthebackupbank.Iftheserverfirmwareintheprimarybankbecomescorrupted,you
caneithermanuallybootthebackupbankwiththeUEFIbootbackupjumper(JP2),orinthecaseofimage
corruption,thiswilloccurautomaticallywiththeAutomatedBootRecoveryfunction.

Thissectiondetailsthein-bandmanualrecoverymethod.
Torecovertheserverfirmwareandrestoretheserveroperationtotheprimarybank,completethefollowing
steps:
Step1.Readthesafetyinformationthatbeginson“Safety”onpagevand“Installationguidelines”
onpage35.
Step2.Turnofftheserver,anddisconnectallpowercordsandexternalcables.
Step3.Unlockandremovetheleft-sidecover(see“Removingtheleft-sidecover”onpage40).
Step4.LocateSW4onthesystemboard.
Step5.ChangethepositionoftheUEFIbootbackupswitch(changeswitch1oftheSW4totheon
position)toenabletheUEFIrecoverymode.
