•Inspectthedriveanddrivebayforsignsofdamage.
•Makesurethatthedriveiscorrectlyinstalledinthedrivebay.
•SeethedocumentationfortheServeRAIDadapterforinstructionsforinstallingaharddiskdrive.
•Allhot-swapdrivesintheservermusthavethesamethroughputspeedrating;usingdriveswithdifferent
speedratingsmightcausealldrivestooperateatthespeedoftheslowestdrive.
•Youdonothavetoturnofftheservertoinstallhot-swapdrivesinthehot-swapdrivebays.However,you
mustturnofftheserverwhenyouperformanystepsthatinvolveinstallingorremovingcables.

Attention:Staticelectricitythatisreleasedtointernalservercomponentswhentheserverispowered-on
mightcausetheservertohalt,whichmightresultinthelossofdata.Toavoidthispotentialproblem,
alwaysuseanelectrostatic-dischargewriststraporothergroundingsystemwhenyouworkinsidethe
serverwiththepoweron.
Toinstalla2.5-inchhot-swapharddiskdrive,completethefollowingsteps.
Step1.Unlocktheleft-sidecover.
Note:Youmustunlocktheleft-sidecovertoopenorremovethebezel.Whenyoulocktheleft-side
cover,itlocksboththecoverandthebezel.
Step2.Openthebezel(see“Openingthebezelmediadoor”onpage38).
Step3.Removethefillerpanel,ifoneispresent.
Step4.Touchthestatic-protectivepackagethatcontainsthediskdrivetoanyunpaintedmetalsurface
ontheserver;then,removethediskdrivefromthepackage.
Step5.Makesurethatthetrayhandleisopen;then,installtheharddiskdriveintothehot-swapbay.
Step6.Rotatethedrivehandledownuntilthedriveisseatedinthehot-swapbayandthereleaselatch
clicksintoplace.
