Hydraulic Repair
TRIM ROD REMOVAL AND REPAIR
NOTE
: Power Trim does not have to be removed from
outboard to remove trim rods.
1. Tilt outboard to full “UP” position and engage tilt
lock lever.
2. Slowly remove “Fill” plug to bleed reservoir
pressure.
3. Turn Manual Release Valve 3 to 4 turns (counter-
clockwise) to bleed remaining pressure.
4. Remove trim rod cylinder caps.
NOTE
: Place a clean pan under trim system to catch
fluid.

5. Install trim rod removal tool and pull trim rod from
cylinder.

CLEANING AND INSPECTION - TRIM RODS AND
CAPS
Do not remove check valve (a). Check valve is
preset to operate at a specific pressure. Removal
and installation of check valve could result in
improper operating pressure and possible
system damage.
CAUTION
NOTE
: Check valve is in port side trim rod only.
