PBX Mode
The Mitel 3000 can be set, through System Programming, to operate in either PBX or Key System mode. The
system works in Key System mode by default.
1. From the programming extension, press the PROGRAM key.
2. Select “System Programming”.
3. Enter the System Programming Password and select “System”.
4. Press the Scroll Down key () until “PBX Mode” is displayed.
5. Select either “PBX Mode ” or “Key System Mode”.
A indicates the mode that is activated
Button Hopping
If you press a line key while on a call, the line associated with the pressed key is selected and the current call is
dropped.
There is a programming option to turn button hopping off so that when you press a second line key the call on the
first line key is placed on hold.
1. From the programming extension, press the PROGRAM key.
2. Press the Scroll Down key () until “System Programming” is displayed.
3. Select “System Programming”.
4. Enter the System Programming Password and select “System”.
5. Press the Scroll Down key () until “Button Hopping” is displayed.
6. Select “Button Hopping”.
The programmed option is indicated with a “”.
Enhanced Emergency Service
In some states it is a requirement that the extension that dialed an emergency number is identified to the
Emergency Services. When the service is turned on and the call is placed over a CO Line or a T1 channel, the
extension number is sent to line as DTMF tones after the number.
When a call is placed to an emergency number using an ISDN (PRI) b channel the setup message contains the
Calling number, the Calling sub address (that includes the caller extension number), and the called number The
call type is C1 - Local (directory) number in the ISDN numbering plan. The sub address type is 'User Specified'
(A0).
1. From the Programming extension, press the PROGRAM key.
2. Press the Scroll Down key () until “System Programming” is displayed.
3. Select “System Programming”.
4. Enter the System Programming Password and select “System”.
5. Press the Scroll Down key () until “emergency number & extension number” is displayed.
6. Select the “On” option.
Dial by Name Directory Programming
There are three elements to programming the new Dial Name Directory service.
1. Turn the service on.
2. Program the list of names in the Directory Table.
3. Users should record their name in their voice mailboxes.
