6.5 HARD SECTORED DISKETTE WITH 32/16/8 SECTORS
In hard sectored diskettes, the index hole is placed halfway between
sector holes 31 and O. Therefore additional circuitry is required to demul-
tiplex the INDEX pulse from the SECTOR pulses. Typically, hard sectored
diskettes have 32 sectors. The MPI Model 40 Series can also provide either 16
or 8 hard sectors from a 32 sector diskette. To install this option add and
delete the following jumpers. Figure 6-6 illustrates this option.

6.6 FM SEPARATED DATA AND CLOCK
This optional output line provides separated data and clock bits from
raw read data for soft sectored standard IBM format or standard format for FM
encoding only. To install this option add the following jumpers. Figure 6-7
illustrates this option.
