7.22.1 Engine Control Unit and connectors – Cleaning
Preconditions
☑ Engine is stopped and starting disabled.

Cleaning Engine Control Unit
and connectors
1. Remove coarse dirt from housing surface us-
ing a cloth moistened with isopropyl alcohol.
2. Remove dirt on surface of connectors (1),
sockets and shrink pieces (2) using isopropyl
alcohol.
3. Check legibility of cable labels. Clean or re-
place illegible labels.
Cleaning severely contaminated
connectors on Engine Control
Unit
1. Undo bayonet union nut (4) with pipe grip-
ping pliers (2) and disconnect connector (3).
2. Clean connector housings, connector socket
housings (1) and all contacts with isopropyl
alcohol.
3. When connectors, sockets and all contacts
are dry: Fit connectors and check Engine
Control Unit connections (→ Page 222).
