venting requirements
2.6 rear exit
A. Remove the safety barrier and glass front (see "safety barrier & door removal / installation" section).
B. Remove the contents from the log box and set aside. You will need the exhaust fl ue collar and the gasket
(supplied).
C. Remove the outer coverplate and gasket from the back of the outer shell and
secure it to the outer top. Ensure the two pieces of insulation are installed
inside the top air housing.
D. Place the gasket (provided) over the 5" (127mm) fl ue collar assembly and bend
along perforation.
E. From inside the fi rebox, insert the 5" (127mm) fl ue collar through the back of
the fi rebox. Install the rear exit shield onto the 5" (127mm) fl ue collar (see "rear
exit shield (for rear vent only)" section).
F. Secure the fl ue collar assembly, gasket and rear exit shield using
the 10 hex head 3/4" black screws (Fig. 1).
G. Install the 8” (203mm) gasket and collar assembly using 4 pan
head screws (supplied) (Fig. 2).

2.7 rear exit shield (for rear vent only)
A. Loosen the two screws,
that secure the exhaust plate, and
slide the rear exit shield in place
by sliding its slotted openings
behind the screwheads, tighten
the two previously loosened
screws. Refer to the illustration.
B. Reinstall the door and
safety barrier assembly on the
appliance (see “safety barrier
& door removal / installation”
section).

WARNING
• Failure to create a seal to the fi rebox with the exhaust collar assembly will cause the appliance to function
improperly and can cause injury or property damage.
Do not overtighten. The gasket needs only to be snug
against the fi rebox.

This shield is used to block the
view through the venting to the
outdoors.

This appliance has been factory shipped as a top vent.
