Adding DHCP server and download servers (FTP and HTTP servers) to the basic configuration can
improve maintainability of Thin Client system.
US40a can obtain the settings information from DHCP and download server (FTP or HTTP server).
In a network using DHCP server, DHCP option information can be set for US40a and placing the
setting information of US40a in the download server, multiple US40a can be configured at one go
rather than setting each US40a individually.
To adjust the system clock of US40a to those of servers, use the internet time server to synchronize
the clock.

 VPCC (Virtual PC Center)
 DHCP server
The DHCP server is used to obtain the IP address of US40a. Also, you can obtain
information about download servers (FTP and HTTP servers) to be used from the DHCP
server.
 Internet time server
Setting information on the Internet time server in US40a allows the system time to be
synchronized with the time of the Internet time server on booting.
 FTP server (download server)
From the FTP server, US40a can download the update modules of programs provided by
NEC as application software to install them.
 HTTP server (download server)
You can use the HTTP server as a download server for US40a.
NOTE: Use either the FTP or the HTTP protocol for communication
with download server. No other protocol such as HTTPS cannot be
used.
