6 Appendix B - ILB2145 Polarization Switch
The ILB2145 supports the reception of both DTH and VSAT carriers, and the transmission of VSAT
carriers in Ku-Band. The polarization of the transmitted carrier is determined by the physical
mounting and orientation of the ILB2145.
Typically satellite receivers use the LNB supply voltage as the means to select Receive polarization
when used with universal LNB's or dual polarization LNB's (voltage convention: 14 V = vertical or 18
V = horizontal). In order to preserve the voltage convention for Receive polarization selection
regardless of the Transmit polarization, there is an internal polarization switch in the iLNB which is
preset in factory according to the Transmit polarization. The table below shows the link between the
internal switch position, the physical orientation of the ILB2145 and the polarization of the transmit
carrier.
Transmit Carrier Polarization
Horizontal Vertical
ILB2145 Mounting Position Approx. Vertical Approx. Horizontal
Polarization Switch Position Up (V) Down (H)
To change the position of the internal polarization switch (in order to transmit at the opposite
polarization than the one which was set in factory), execute the following steps:
