Chapter 5 Operation
HIGH FLOW INSUFFLATION UNIT UHI-4
5.6 Selecting the smoke evacuation mode
The smoke evacuation function can be set to one of three modes. The smoke
evacuation function of this instrument executes insufflation into and suction from
the cavity simultaneously to exhaust and remove the generated smoke and mist
while maintaining the cavity pressure constant. For how to use the smoke
evacuation function, refer to Sections 5.9, “Smoke evacuation system/function
(when using the compatible foot switch)” and 5.10, “Automatic smoke evacuation
system/function (when using the electrosurgical generator or the ultrasonic
generator)”
Select the smoke evacuation mode using the smoke evacuation mode selector
switch. The smoke evacuation mode can be selected from three modes
including “OFF”, “Low”, and “High”. Selecting “OFF” defeats the smoke
evacuation.
The table below shows the flow rate when smoke evacuation
is performed. Flow rate varies depending on the flow
resistance of the connected instrument. This table shows
flow rate when low-flow-resistance instruments are
connected to the insufflation tube. Accordingly, the actual gas
flow rate may not conform exactly to the figures in the table.
