6.14 Storage and Disposal
Precautions for storage and disposal
After reprocessing, maintain appropriate transportation and storage
procedures to keep reprocessed High Flow Insufflation Unit and
accessories away from contaminated equipment. If the reprocessed
High Flow Insufflation Unit or accessories become contaminated before
subsequent patient procedures, they could pose an infection control risk
to patients and/or operators who touch them.
Establish a local policy regarding the method and frequency of cleaning
and disinfecting the endoscope storage cabinet, which staff members
can access the cabinet, which items can be stored in the cabinet, etc.
Inspect the sterile package for tears or other damage. If the
sterile packages are open or damaged, seal the tubes and
connectors in new packages and sterilize again as described
in n Sterilizing Insufflation Tube (MAJ-590) and Suction Tube
(MAJ-591)” on page 176.
Store so that dust or dirt does not accumulate on electrical
contacts such as electrical connectors.
