Chapter 5 Operation
91
HIGH FLOW INSUFFLATION UNIT UHI-4
• High-frequency output is performed under the assumption
that only the insufflation tube is inserted into the patient after
the first trocar is inserted (therefore, no suction tube is
connected). In this case, select the LOW flow setting or press
the STOP switch to temporarily disable the automatic
exhaust function.
1. Ensure that the tubes and the electrosurgical generator or ultrasonic
generator are connected properly as described in Sections 3.9, “Connecting
the insufflation tube and suction tube” on page 58 and 3.6, “Connecting the
electrosurgical unit (ESG-400, UES-40) or the SonoSurg generator
(USG-400, SonoSurg-G2)” on page 45.
2. Confirm that the smoke evacuation mode is not “OFF”. If it is “OFF”, switch it
to “High” or “low” (refer to Section5.6, “Selecting the smoke evacuation
mode” on page 82).
3. Perform normal insufflation operation until the cavity pressure rises to the
desired level (refer to Section 5.8, “Insufflation” on page 85).
4. The smoke evacuation function of this instrument starts to work in
interlocking with the output from the electrosurgical generator or ultrasonic
generator.
5. Even when the electrosurgical generator or ultrasonic generator stops the
output, the smoke evacuation function of this instrument continues to work
for about 5 seconds (which is variable in the user mode setting).
Refer to Section 5.15, “User mode” on page 100.
5.11 Resetting the CO
2
volume indicator
This operation is not mandatory. The gas volume count is
also reset automatically when this instrument is switched
OFF.
The volume indicator shows the CO
2
volume used during the operation. When
the volume reset switch is pressed, the counter is reset to “0.0”.
