6.3.17 Data Matrix
Data Matrix is a matrix type 2D barcode developed by Idymatrix Corporation that can be
characterized by black and white dots arranged in a square or rectangular pattern. The most
popular application for Data Matrix is marking small items, because it can encode fifty
characters in a symbol that is readable at 2 to 3 mm
2
and because it can be read with only a
20% contrast ratio. Data Matrix is standardized in ISO/IEC 16022.
