1.1 Construction and Function
The prosthetic hip joint is a monocentric hip joint with hydraulic stance and swing phase control.
Its design features enable the prosthesis wearer to achieve a harmonious and smooth gait pat
tern. The prosthetic hip joint offers the following features:
• Extension and flexion with hydraulic damping: The hydraulics control joint damping in all
gait phases.
This permits damping of hip joint extension after stepping down, with a reduction of backward
pelvic tilt and therefore hyperlordosis.
The step length (flexion of the hip joint in the swing phase) is divided into 2 ranges. In the start
range there is no swing phase damping. In the end range, swing phase damping is
adjustable.
• Sitting characteristics: Since the hip joint has a low structural height when installed, the
"pelvic obliquity" in the sitting position can be reduced to a minimum. The very large flexion
angle of the hip joint makes comfortable sitting possible.
• Adjustment options for alignment: Interior and exterior rotation, abduction and adduction,
pyramid adapter on the distal end of the hip joint.
